Rolling Selection Process

We are accepting applications now and are taking them on a rolling basis. Get your application in soon to insure a spot on the next team. We will close admissions when we have a quality team. If you require assistance with housing, we highly suggest you apply ASAP as housing decisions require more lead time.

Process

First, please reach out to us directly so we can answer all your questions regarding the program.  This will help you better understand whether InventiveLabs is the right place for you.

After speaking with you, we ask all applicants to complete a written application. Typos, bullet points and spelling errors are OK - it shows you are free-thinking and allows us to get to know you!

After reviewing your written application, we will arrange for an in-person or Skype/Facetime interview.  We will dig deeper into your passions and background to better understand if InventiveLabs could be a match.

Could you be an Inventive? here is what we look for in our application:

InventiveLabs is looking for a well-rounded team of individuals who want to bring new ideas to the world. Our application process helps us get a better feel for the individual.

Some of our final candidates may have been high school valedictorian; or they may have dropped out of school. Some will have completed college degrees; some have not. We value potential, and recognize accomplishment. Tell us your story and we’ll see how you fit into the InventiveLabs picture.

We realize school and employment history gives a glimpse at the individual, but it is only part of the story. We are looking at the complete picture of the applicant. We are looking for high-ability people, so let us know the area where you think you can excel.

Some folks will be selected for a passion or focus in a specific area. Is there an area that truly defines you, or that you are inspired to dig much deeper into?

Some folks will be selected as well rounded individuals. What you are passionate about this year will be different than what you are passionate about next year. But over time, you gained (and will continue to gain) a pretty good knowledge of many things. Cross-discipline thinking has spurred some of history’s greatest ideas.

Some folks may be selected on intellect/book smarts, while others may be selected because they are mechanically inclined. Some may be selected on personality or artistic ability. Some may have gotten A’s in all subjects. Some may have gotten A’s in only one subject. Some may have never gotten an A in school, but are looking to get an A in life. Tell us how you are intelligent!

There is no simple answer to what we are looking for in an Inventive. It is like asking a football coach what skills they are looking for in their players. The characteristics change depending on whether they are discussing a quarterback, a lineman, or a running back/receiver. But each player has a skill set that makes them special and valuable to the team.
